On the forty-third anniversary of the D-Day Invasion, Soviet General Secretary Grigory Romanov took the opportunity to call on the United States to do its part in reducing the increasing tension between the world’s superpowers. Romanov specifically pointed to US statements regarding his rise to power as nothing short of a coup, and US attempts to impose economic sanctions on the Soviet Union. Despite the tensions, Romanov said he firmly believes the US and Soviet Union can find a way to coexist in the modern world.
